David joins Lifeways’ national quality team
David likes feeling valued and in control of his life. In fact, independence means the world to him. Over the years, David has overcome his disabilities to achieve many things and he’s as determined as ever to do all he can as an advocate for others who face similar challenges.
With his own special skills and abilities, David has become a key member of the Quality Team, which operates at both area and national level within Lifeways.
He has the perfect credentials for this important role, having worked alongside senior managers on the Leicester City Council Partnership Board, including two years asco-chair.
David is able to make a very special contribution, not just because of his thoughtful and highly proactive approach, but also because of the valuable insight he brings about what it’s like to be cared for – a way of life for him ever since he was a baby.
From now on, David will attend regular meetings of the Lifeways Quality Team. Speaking about his experience of a recent user focus group, held in Walsall, David said: “I know what works well in a care setting, the importance of give and take, when to stand firm and when to compromise. My previous experience has helped me learn how to think things through and put a convincing case together. Speaking up for other people doesn’t just give me an enjoyable interest, it really fires me up!” |
