Lifeways is proud to announce that it has been named Specialist Care Provider of the Year 2010 at the HealthInvestor Awards 2010. The awards were established to recognise outstanding achievements in healthcare. Lifeways was chosen above strong competition in the category. The Judging panel awarded this year's accolade to Lifeways, commenting “The winner's rapid growth has been underpinned by outstanding quality of delivery.”

Paul Marriner, Chief Executive, collected the award on behalf of the organisation at the prestigious award ceremony in London which was attended by over 950 leading industry figures.

Paul Marriner, commented: “This is a fantastic achievement and one that the Executive Team and Board are all delighted with and which acknowledges just how far the organisation has come since its inception, but in particular over the last couple of years. I would like to especially thank all of our amazing staff who work so hard every day to ensure Lifeways provides services to enable some of the most vulnerable users in society to have an excellent quality of life.”

The award is a reflection of Lifeway's achievements over the last few years to become one of the UK's most forward-thinking and innovative providers of services for people with diverse and often complex needs. In just 15 years, Lifeways has grown to employ over 3,500 staff and look after 1,375 vulnerable people nationwide. As a provider it delivers services to the highest number of adults with learning disabilities in their own home.

Lifeways successful growth is in no small part attributable to its innovative approach to providing specialist services to people with learning disabilities, profound and multiple health needs, acquired brain injuries, autistic spectrum disorders, mental health needs, physical disabilities and sensory and communication impairments.

The award reflects the fact that Lifeways always strives for excellence and is continually look to improve the way it runs its business to the benefit of the individuals it supports. As a testament to this, we now have 98% of all our services rated by CQC as Good or Excellent, but when you take out the registered services and look at domiciliary services only, this rises to 100%. This compares with a national average of 78% and it is anticipated that in 2010, all our services will be rated Good or Excellent with CQC with the vast majority at Excellent.
