Lifeways steps up its fast-paced growth in the UK
Lifeways steps up its fast-paced growth in the UK
25th March 2008
Lifeways, a leading provider of specialist community care in the UK has acquired the West Country-based Kentwood Limited, a provider of care and support for adults in residential and supported living services.

The Kentwood acquisition is the latest year-on-year spurt of growth for Lifeways, one of the UK’s leading providers of specialist community care and support services for people with special needs. It marks Lifeways’ springboard from its successful focus on supported living to providing some specialist registered care for individuals with complex needs. The acquisition means Lifeways can extend its services through Kentwood, an established support and care provider based in Gloucestershire, Bristol and Worcestershire. Kentwood, formerly a family-owned business, has a portfolio of 16 properties, including five registered residential care homes and employs more than 100 staff. The announcement is the latest in a series of significant acquisitions and new contracts won by Lifeways in the past year as it expands its range of services for people with learning disabilities and complex needs. Other developments include the opening of a specialised respite and short breaks scheme in Staffordshire and a wide range of contracts from South Ayrshire to Devon.

Lifeways’ Chief Executive Paul Marriner said the newest acquisition is in line with Lifeways’ strategy to enhance and expand the broad range of services it offers to users and to develop the next phase of growth. He said: “There are huge opportunities in the Social and Healthcare service industry at the moment and this acquisition of Kentwood highlights Lifeways’ role as a leading provider of flexible, service user-focused approach.

“Kentwood has a fine reputation for quality of care provision and Lifeways is proud to be adding this company to its expanding portfolio of services whilst maintaining the high standards and ethics that have been central to our success.”

Kentwood currently provides support for 60 service users in their own homes or in residential care homes. Many of its users are people with challenging needs such as autism, mental health disorders, physical disabilities and learning disabilities. Kentwood's Director of Operations, Jemima Taylor, said: “We are delighted by the opportunities the acquisition will bring to our business.

“Kentwood is also pleased to be able to bring the skills and expertise required in the delivery of intensive residential services, which we hope Lifeways will be able to capitalise on. We want to ensure all parts of the group are able to offer the most diverse range of service options to our purchasers and service users throughout the UK.”
