Paul Marriner named Entrepreneur of the Year at the Laing and Buisson 2011 Independent Specialist Care Awards
At a glittering awards dinner held in London on Tuesday 15th March 2011, Paul Marriner, Chief Executive of Lifeways Community Care Limited, was awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year award. The judges were looking for an individual who has demonstrated the most impressive business skills in either creating new services for younger adults with social care needs or building a platform to make a high quality offering more widely available.
Paul Marriner commented: “I am absolutely delighted to have been recognised by my peers for the work the organisation has achieved under my leadership. I thank my team and all our dedicated staff for enabling me to build a business which truly makes a difference to peoples’ lives.”
The award is a reflection of Lifeways' achievements over the last few years to become one of the UK’s most forward-thinking and innovative providers of services for people with diverse and often complex needs. In just 15 years, Lifeways has grown to employ over 4,000 staff and look after 1,600 vulnerable people nationwide. As a provider it delivers services to the highest number of adults with learning disabilities in their own home.
As well as Paul’s accolade, Jemima Taylor, Development Director and Garry Cross, Operations Director, were shortlisted for the Supported Living award, whilst Dorothy Delooze, Quality Director, was shortlisted for the Innovation award.
Lifeways Community Care Limited also sponsored the Best Commissioner Award and were proud to be able to award this to Angela Plummer and the Contracts Commissioning and Placements Team at Swindon Borough Council for their vision and implementation of innovative services within the borough over the last 2 years.
