My story - Amanda Print E-mail
AmandaFor several years now, Amanda has received daytime support from Lifeways. She sometimes finds life’s highs and lows challenging and appreciates support with a variety of lifestyle choices – from shopping and menu planning to gentle prompts about social interactions, such as using the telephone and dealing with people when she’s out and about.

“I’m much better at organizing myself these days,” Amanda adds, “and I make sure I’m eating sensibly – buying healthier food on a daily basis instead of doing a big shop once in a while. I really want to avoid being tempted by crisps and chocs. And if I get stressed, I know that I can take some time out, listen to my music and calm things down."

Last autumn, Amanda made a planned move into a flat on her own. She confidently tackles most of the day-to-day chores, but appreciates that the team is there for her when she needs support.

Amanda has a plan. She’s given a lot of careful thought to what she wants to achieve in her life and priority number one is to shed some weight. But as anyone who’s been on a diet will know, motivation can be the biggest obstacle. Luckily, Amanda has her Lifeways support team on her side – every inch of the way!

“Now that I’m settled in my new place, and with the support I’m getting, I feel a lot happier. Being healthier is really important to me because it means I’ll be able to do more. I’ll tell you what – I’d like to plan a holiday and maybe get tickets for a Westlife concert!

”I’m lucky to live at the seaside,” says Amanda, “and I’ll be taking plenty of brisk walks on Morecambe promenade from now on. I’m also going to try and do three sessions a week at the local swimming pool.”
