 Azadeh loves having a home of her own. She’s recently celebrated the first anniversary of moving into a flat in a pleasant Newcastle suburb – with support provided by Lifeways’ innovative ‘Concierge Plus’ service.
“It’s great having a space I can call my own, including a
kitchen where I can prepare some of my favourite Iranian specialities,” says Azadeh. “I value my privacy, but it’s also nice to have the opportunity to make friends with the other residents.”
Azadeh is one of six tenants in this converted townhouse, where each unit has its own attractively decorated bedsitting room, bathroom and galley kitchen. The location is ideal – there’s a variety of shops just around the corner and excellent public transport.
‘Concierge Plus’ is all about supporting residents to develop their independence, around tasks like cooking, budgeting and day to day activities. Support is provided by her Lifeways’ team of hand-picked staff.
Azadeh loves to be busy. As well as taking college courses in maths, English and health & social care, she spends lots of time using her laptop, organising herdiary and planning activities. “Since moving here I feel like I’ve got a new life,” Azadeh adds, “and it’s really boosted my confidence!”
