Lifeways Community Care offers a range of innovative and flexible short break options for people requiring either stand-in cover for care at home or time away from their own homes, providing temporary respite or a breathing space to families and carers.
We aim to ensure the break is a positive experience for the person supported and cared for as well as for the carer, in order to enhance the quality of both their lives and to support their relationship. Flexible support at home Lifeways has developed a new type of ‘respite’ service to support people with a learning disability who live at home, enabling their families or carers to go out for the night or away for a few days. With an increasing number of people now being able to access Individual Budgets, we are anticipating that there will be a greater demand for people requiring flexible support at home. Comfortable care homes for respite care At present, Lifeways provides short breaks in our homes in Burton on Trent, Staffordshire and in St Helen’s, Manchester. This will soon be available in a number of other locations. Our homes are well furnished and provide all home comforts, including wheelchair accessible rooms for those with physical disabilities, wide doors and hoists, and specially adapted showers and bathroom fittings. Our service enables families to continue with their caring role in the long term, with the added benefit of giving their relative an opportunity to spend time with other people and experience new opportunities. |
