Located in a picturesque area of County Durham, Tanglewood Mews is a development of 5 purpose built individual houses, offering specialist care and support for adults with autism and learning disabilities. Tanglewood Mews offers both residential care and supported living, with tailored support plans designed around each individual to ensure that complexity of need is not a barrier to independence or progress. Tanglewood Mews provides person focused and aspirational support through dedicated and highly trained support teams in each home.
About the houses
Olive Grove offers high quality residential care for 7 individuals. Each of the 7 bedrooms has an en suite shower room. There is a large communal kitchen, spacious dining room, living room and an activity room. There’s also a large garden or everyone to enjoy.
Maple Grove is also a 7 bedroom house offering a supported living in a spacious and comfortable environment. Each bedroom has an en suite, and there’s a communal kitchen, lounge, dining room and a sensory room available to everyone we support there. There’s also a large communal garden.
Willow House, Pine House and Beech House
Each of these houses consist of 3 flats, all with an en suite bedroom and their own living room. The houses have communal kitchens, dining rooms and laundry rooms. Each flat has its own garden space.
The local area
Tanglewood is directly next to a local park, and is only a five minute walk away from Stanley town centre, which hosts local shops, supermarkets, doctors, dentists and local transport links. In Stanley there’s also a leisure centre with a swimming pool and an accessible theatre, both of which offer a range of activities and day services for people of all abilities. Also close by there’s a museum and Tanfield heritage railway which operates steam trains.
Stanley provides a great location to explore a little further afield, with transport links to Newcastle upon Tyne, Sunderland, Durham and the beautiful North Pennines.
