We believe that there are still too many people who are currently residing in hospitals, or secure and other institutional care settings who, with the right support and structure, would thrive in community settings.

SIL provides specialist support and recovery services for people with enduring mental health needs, supporting them to transition from institutional environments to their own tenancy within the community. We believe our services represent a missing piece of the mental health pathway, providing an early step-down from secure units or hospitals.

Challenging the over-reliance on institutional care

Our vision: Our services will be catalysts for partnership and innovation that challenges the over-reliance on institutional care for people with complex mental health needs. We want to help create a world where everyone has the opportunity to live with increasing independence and to live the best possible life they can.

Our mission: Is to support and sustain the earliest possible transition of people with mental health problems from institutional living environments to their own tenancy  – as close to ‘home’ as possible.

We will work to form partnerships with commissioning authorities to develop alternative pathways that inspire hope and belief in the individual’s ability to take control of their lives.

We recognise that everyone is unique and we will work to create opportunities that enable people to see a life beyond mental illness.
