Life-changing support for adults with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries or mental health conditions.
Type of property
Charnwood Street is a group of six apartments where people feel welcome and supported. Drop-in support from staff means people can lead independent lives while benefiting from staff contact when needed too.
Each one bedroom apartment has an open-plan kitchen and living room, and a bathroom with a shower. One apartment has two bedrooms, with the spare to be used as a sleep-in staff room, or an extra bedroom depending on each person’s needs.
Charnwood Street also has a yard for people to spend time outdoors when the weather is good. Assistive technology includes an intercom system.
Valued in your community
Charnwood Street is in a vibrant area on the outskirts of Derby.
Derby has a wide range of shops and restaurants, as well as museums and art galleries, intu Derby Shopping Centre, the Odeon and Showcase cinemas, and Derby Theatre. People enjoy going to Derby Rollerworld and Derby Arena for sports and music events.
For people who like to stay active, Queen’s Leisure Centre provides year-round access to exercise classes, a swimming pool and a gym.
People also like to go to Nottingham for larger shops and attractions including Nottingham Tenpin Bowl, Nottingham Castle, Museum and Art Gallery, Green’s Windmill and Science Centre and ice skating at Motorpoint Arena.
Nottingham also has Nottingham University City Hospital which provides access to services for brain injury, cystic fibrosis, epilepsy and seizure disorders, speech and language therapy, and neurological rehabilitation outpatients.
