For World Mental Health Day 2021 at Lifeways, #LetsGetOutside!
Did you know that each year, one in four people in England will experience a mental health problem of some kind?
That’s why starting from Sunday, Lifeways will take the opportunity over the week to stay active and spend more time outdoors – despite the chilly weather!
Using our hashtag, #LetsGetOutside, our 11,000 colleagues can share their stories and how they and individuals they support have been staying active outdoors.
Our plans for #LetsGetOutside:
Alongside spontaneous plans across our services, here’s what we’ve got planned for the week:
- a park run
- walking groups
- group dog-walking (lots of individuals we support keep pets!)
- cycling trips
Steering the activities throughout the week is Karen Roberts, Lifeways’ Group Head of Health & Clinical Governance.
“Promoting positive mental health is of course extremely important each and every day of the year,” says Karen.
“But it’s great that mental health takes the national spotlight at a time of year where moods and wellbeing can drop along with the temperature outdoors.”
“We’re looking forward to taking this opportunity to act to keep ourselves active, happy, and well. Let’s get outside!”
To share stories like this one, and stay connected, Lifeways colleagues across the UK use Workplace, an internally-focused social platform that’s available on smartphones, computers and tablets.
As well as sharing stories and interacting together, every colleague on Workplace has ready access to the Knowledge Library, which includes resources on promoting positive mental health at work.
Promoting positive mental health is a large part of our support for the almost 5,000 individuals we work with.
Additionally, for people whose main needs are mental health support, Lifeways Group includes SIL, a Mental Health Nurse-led (RMN) specialist provider of recovery-focussed supported living services.
