A Lifeways residential service in Sheffield, Kingdom House, has a new Registered Manager, James Sherratt.  James who has been working in care for over two decades.

He’s gained a wealth of experience across the social care sector. James describes himself as open-minded person who enjoys working with people and is always willing to try new experiences.

“I started in the care industry at 18 and my first job was working with people with learning difficulties, brain injuries and behaviours that challenge which at times could be tough but was also extremely rewarding.”

His career then took him to a new care provider where he spent the next fourteen years helping people with care and support needs to transition from hospital into supported living where they could regain their independence with support as needed.

Teamwork

“I worked with many different people with various needs from physical disabilities to mental health issues such as bipolar and personality disorders and the multidisciplinary teams required to assess, plan and manage their care and support.

It was all about teamwork, but everyone was working towards the same thing – the best possible outcomes for the people we were working with”.

‘A shared ambition’

James feels excited to be working at Kingdom House. “It is a great service with so much potential for the people we support,” says James when talking about the service.

“Since being at Kingdom House I have been warmly greeted by my colleagues and made to feel really welcome. It’s great as everyone is willing to try new things and we all have a shared ambition to make a real difference to the lives of the people we support, which is the reason we’re here after all”.
