Our St Helens supported living service, Scholes Croft, receives ‘Highly Commended’ certificate at local awards!

Scholes Croft, a Lifeways supported living service, this summer received a ‘Highly Commended’ certificate at the first St Helens Cares Recognition Awards.

The awards celebrate teams, individuals and volunteers from organisations across St Helens who deliver health and social care services, including St Helens Borough Council, and the local NHS trust.

Scholes Croft, which is made up of 16 purpose-built apartments, supports adults with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries, and mental health conditions.

The supported living service was nominated for the Public Recognition Award by an anonymous member of the public.

The nomination statement read:

“Management, staff & tenants have all come together during the pandemic and lockdown at Scholes Croft and the Lifeways teammates make sure the tenants go about their daily lives as normal as possible. Julie, Nicola [Scholes Croft’s Team Leader] & team go the extra mile everyday making people feel safe, helping with days out, having fun and always doing it with a smile.”

‘Really pleased’

“We were all really pleased to have been nominated and then to receive a certificate, as we knew our team at Scholes Croft went above and beyond, so it’s lovely feedback,” said Julie Boulton, Scholes Croft’s Service Manager.

“Our team really pulled together during the pandemic for the individuals we support,” Julie added.

“In anxious times, this teamwork has been a godsend.”

In total, nine awards were given out to individuals and teams in health and social care in St Helens. The public in St Helens voted on the awards.

A team member at St Helens Borough Council won the Public Recognition Award, while Scholes Croft came second.
