Positive Behaviour Support
The organisation utilises the Lifeways Positive Behaviour Support model. The Lifeways PBS model is very much focused on Proactive support. Our belief is that if a person spends their day engaged in fulfilling and meaningful activities in a supportive environment, with a highly competent, diligent staff team, and facilitated to communicate effectively then, in our experience, behaviours described as challenging often fade into insignificance. That is not to say that a person’s sensory issues or anxiety levels are no longer important factors, but rather they can be made less significant in a highly supportive enriched environment. We have also found that staff find promoting positive activities and interchanges is much more rewarding and fun for both the person they are supporting and themselves that job satisfaction also massively increases. The model is focused on all our staff to be focused on holistic positive support (rather than behaviour modification) which is what some still see as the role of PBS. The model is heavily influenced by the research and writings of Gary LaVigna, Julie Beadle Brown, Nick Gore, Olga Bogdashina, Sandy Toogood and David Allen.

It can offer practical skills through comprehensive training and support in gardening, cooking, arts and crafts and woodwork and wood processing. We provide a range of activities that can enhance self confidence and build a community presence within the village of Drummuir.
Participants are encouraged to contribute to the direction of the project so they achieve their potential. We can tailor particular requirements to enable participants to enjoy a good days work with our established team.
