Elliot Avenue, Peterborough is a residential care modern, detached, six-bedroom house on a private and quiet housing estate in South Bretton, Peterborough. Shared spaces at Elliot Avenue include a large lounge, a dining room, a fitted kitchen and a separate utility room. There is also a fully equipped quiet study area. At the rear of the home is a large, attractive garden with a patio area, a sensory garden and detached accommodation housing a large, well-equipped Snoezelen room. Each of the six bedrooms has en-suite facilities.
Whilst the home specialises in supporting young adults with learning disabilities in transition from children’s to adults’ services, including people with autistic spectrum conditions or complex needs, we are able to work with adults of all ages.
Everyone we support at Elliot Avenue has an individual activity plan to support their participation in meaningful activities inside and outside the home. We involve each person in the process of drawing up the activity plan, to establish what they want to achieve, what skills they already have and skills we can support them to develop.
We encourage everyone we support to be as independent as possible and to manage their own daily routines, while providing a varied and stimulating day care programme that helps individuals to develop life and social skills. We also support people who wish to seek voluntary or paid work in the community or pursue educational opportunities.
At Elliot Avenue, we have been successful in developing the skills, confidence and routines required by young people to live more independently and we have helped several people to move on to supported living.
Elliot Avenue is one of our registered care homes accredited by the National Autistic Society as Quality Autism Provision. This means that the home has a specialised knowledge and understanding of autistic spectrum conditions, which results in positive outcomes for all people with autism.
Services are provided to people with autism, and learning disabilities.
