We provide services to assist with the following:

  • personal care and support including medication management
  • day-to-day tasks
  • learning new skills and becoming more independent
  • taking up education and employment opportunities
  • becoming more involved in social activities in the local area

The Lifeways Halifax Area office provides services for the following areas: North Yorkshire, Kirkless, Bradford and York, those services include, Learning Disabilities, Autism, Mental Health and we also have 4 Respite and Short Breaks services in Halifax and York, these are Flaxman Avenue, Copwood, Old Park Road and Whiteoak.

Our person-centred approach places individuals at the centre of a local network of expert support which can include their family, carers, care managers and health and social care organisations and professionals.

Positive behavioral support.

When needed we have local behavioral specialists that work closely with the people we support, families, staff and external professionals to develop a positive behavior support plan. This uses the least restrictive way to support someone to manage their own challenging behavior and develop other coping strategies to live as independent as possible.

Enabling every person to reach their full potential

We assist people with a range of needs to live independently and safely in their own home – supporting them to access the social, leisure, education, training, voluntary work and employment opportunities and activities open to all members of the community.

The Halifax area office short breaks and respite services

For thoseĀ using the services, alongside their family, are involved in choosing who supports them. We match the staff team to the activities selected by the person to make the experience enjoyable for everyone. The team are also trained to meet the specific needs of each person, however complex these might be. As with any other type of support we provide, we put in place detailed support plans, risk assessments and work with relevant professionals to ensure the individual is fully supported at all times. We do accept emergency short term placements at these services.
