Hollybank is a purpose-built facility providing 13 residential placements (including one respite bed) for people with learning or physical disabilities, autistic spectrum disorder, behaviour that challenges, Down’s syndrome, epilepsy, sensory impairment and acquired brain injury.
Hollybank is located in the quiet residential area of Reddingmuirhead, within easy access of public transport links and the centre of Falkirk.
At Hollybank we specialise in providing opportunities for people to gain the life skills they require to live in the community, either independently or through supported living.
By offering a full timetable of activities including daily living skills, socialising and outdoor activities, we work with the individual to promote confidence and build self esteem.
Once people have gained the life skills they require to live in their own homes, they move on whether this be with the aid of supported living or to be totally independent.
Sitting at the heart of the local community, Hollybank offers opportunities for positive social inclusion as well as the skilled support needed by each individual. There are spacious and comfortable communal areas and a large enclosed garden to the rear. Assistive technology is installed according to individual needs, and everyone is encouraged to truly personalise their own bedroom.
At Hollybank we offer the highest standards of residential support through a commitment to person-centred planning, attention to detail, engaged staff teams and most importantly a passion for enabling the people we support to achieve their goals and self-direct their support as much as they can.
Positive behaviour and active support underpin everything we do. We understand that each individual is a unique human being and not just a set of risks and challenges. We also recognise that families are the experts, so we work closely with families to create care pathways that empower the people we support to achieve their ambitions, acquire new skills, forge genuine community links and to live fulfilling lives.
We have a full time activities coordinator who plans activities around the interests and development needs of the people we support, from cooking to horse riding, athletics to ten-pin bowling, college courses to arts and crafts.
At the weekends we often visit local shops, pubs, restaurants and the cinema together. We’re close to the M9 and M8, to rail links to Glasgow and Edinburgh and bus services to Falkirk town centre, so there’s lots for people to do within easy reach.
Our new Starlight Room is a sensory space where individuals can go if they feel anxious or just need some time alone in a calming space. The room has been decorated by staff and the people living at Hollybank, and has been designed with sensory relaxation in mind.
