The Gables is located close to Hoveton and comprising three self-contained, ground floor apartments. We provide an innovative approach to supporting people with a wide range of mental health needs, and for those with learning disabilities. We believe that creating the right environment is integral to delivering a truly personalised service, one which connects people using services with those supporting them. Our commitment to excellence is fuelled by a passion to innovate, to make institutionalised, and restrictive practice a thing of the past.
The Gables provides those who have achieved their goals at Keys Hill Park with the opportunity to live by themselves for a few months before embarking on the final stage of their journey towards independent living. This commonsense approach allows people to experience what independent living is really like but with the advantage of a personalised outreach support service designed to identify ad fine-tune any changes that may be required to the final support plan. This also reduces the risk of a final stage failure.
As with Keys Hill Park, each apartment is bright, spacious and thoughtfully designed. Each has its own entrance lobby, large en-suite bedroom with walk-in shower, living room and kitchen. There is also a large garden and parking area.
The Gables offers a person-centred support, delivered through a vibrant, energetic, and enthusiastic staff team creates an environment that builds confidence and a sense of well being. A flagship service for Norfolk and beyond, recognised as a centre of excellence where innovative practice shapes policy.
Delivering innovative care support services of exceptional quality and with an emphasis on recovery, independence, and community integration.
At the Gables our goal is to promote and maximise independence. We look to increase self-awareness and prepare individuals for life in their chosen community.
Transferring life skills
We ensure that support is in place to transfer and practice core life skills necessary for independent living. This includes cooking, cleaning, laundry, personal hygiene, and learning how to manage an individual budget.
The Gables has strong links to the local community and plans all activities around the individual. Organised group activities also feature but only within the context of building confidence and mirroring community life. Examples of community partnership arrangements include; links with Wroxham Football Club, Wroxham Sailing Club, local charity shops and businesses, and the local library. Our riverside café in the heart of Wroxham provides real work opportunities for our residents, and greater integration with the local community. Slightly further afield, we have developed strong links with Norwich City College and Easton College.
Support and advice
At the Gables we have built a strong relationship with a local GP-led Health Centre whose partners have a specific interest in mental health, and learning disabilities, and where the culture of the practice mirrors that of our own – personalised, preventative services that understand the link between mental and physical illnesses, and where those needing to see a GP are supported appropriately.
