Placing individuals at the centre of expert support. Whitwood Grange in Castleford, West Yorkshire, is a friendly home offering year-round, 24-hour residential support for up to 16 adults. Whitwood Grange, Castleford is an autism-specific service with proven success in supporting people with very complex and challenging needs to develop positive strategies to achieve their goals.
We work with people to reduce unwanted behaviour, through improving communication and using active support to enable individuals to learn new skills and strategies so they can become more independent.
Tailored support from the start
Everything we do at Whitwood Grange, Castleford is tailored to the individual. Every new resident is encouraged to play a part in creating their personalised support programme. We help people to improve their communication skills, to develop independence and to integrate with the local community. Our aim is that they progress to a point where they can move on to a supported living setting, or even independent living in the community.
Although residents are able to stay as long as they need to, many are increasingly moving on to independent settings within 18 months.
Services are offered to people with learning disabilities, complex needs including autism and behaviours that challenge, acquired brain injury, and mental health needs. We offer residential, supported living, short breaks and respite, outreach, and transitional support.
