Whitwood House in Castleford, West Yorkshire, is a close-knit home offering 24-hour residential care support for up to 16 adults. We have proven experience in reducing and replacing challenging behaviours, enabling people to learn new skills, become more confident and move on into supported living or independent living in the community.
Delivering active, tailored support
Everything we do at Whitwood House, Castleford is tailored to the individual. Everyone who joins us receives a fully personalised support programme, which we encourage them to play a part in creating. They are also able to stay as long as they need to. This tailored, person-centred approach makes us unusual, and explains why we have people with learning disabilities who demonstrate challenging behaviours coming to us from all over the UK.
We support residents to improve their communication skills, to develop independence and to integrate with the local community. Our aim is that they progress to a point where they can move on to a supported living setting, or even independent living in the community.
Services are offered to people with learning disabilities, complex needs including autism and behaviours that challenge, and acquired brain injury.
