Safe, effective and well-led support in Halifax

Our services in Halifax have been awarded a ‘good’ rating in their recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection.

Last year’s inspection identified a number of areas for improvement, so the team have been working hard to ensure people receive good quality, person centred support. The visiting CQC inspector commented in his report that “it was clear Lifeways had implemented the changes and improvements identified during their last inspection.”

During the inspection, inspectors speak with people receiving support, their families and staff teams. People and their relatives all said that overall they were happy with the service and that it provided good quality care. One relative commented that their family member: “has done so well since he’s been with Lifeways. It’s all down to staff and I couldn’t find better.” Another relative told the inspector: “I am happy with everything” and a third relative added: “I am very pleased with the whole situation. We visit regularly.”

One individual commented:

“I have superb staff. They look after me really well.” For individuals who don’t communicate verbally the inspectors observed their body language and concluded: “they appeared comfortable and relaxed in the company of staff.”

Scott Lovell, Area Manager said:

“we are really pleased with the CQC report following on from our continuous improvement plan that was put in place after the CQC inspection in June 2015. The people we support are at the heart of everything we do and we are particularly proud of the inclusive recruitment, quality checkers and family forums we have rolled out in the last 12 months.

Myself and the team always do and always will continue to offer personalised and tailored support to people in their own homes. We will continue to enable people to make choices and be in control of their own lives whilst empowering people to achieve their dreams and goals.

The team will continue to use a person centred approach and work with each person we support and their families and friends to help make choices and take control of their lives and think about and plan what they want, now and in the future.”

The service provides support for adults with a range of disabilities and complex needs, as well as supported living services for people living across West and North Yorkshire and East Lancashire. Lifeways aims to enable people to live independent and dignified lives, by the provision of care within their own homes.
