Supported living helps people with a range of support needs retain their independence whilst still having that extra physical and emotional support needed to lead completely fulfilled lives in their own homes.

There are many benefits to choosing supported living including:

1. Enjoy greater independence

Unlike residential care, which is more suitable for people with complex care needs who are unable to live independently, supported living offers the opportunity to live in your own home with support tailored to your specific needs. Whether you’re moving out of your parents’ home, transitioning from child to adult services or are living independently but need more support, supported living can be the perfect option. You will be responsible for things like paying your bills and the upkeep of your home and outdoor spaces - teaching valuable life skills, but also have a space to relax and call home.

2. Live in your own home tailored around your needs

One of the main benefits of supported living is having a home that is tailored and adapted to support your individual needs and requirements. At Lifeways, we work closely with property developers to create houses, apartments and bungalows across the UK that are specially designed to complement our support, enabling more independent living. Some of our properties contain assistive technology including call systems, hoists and automatic doors for increased support.

3. The opportunity to create a home you love

One of the most exciting parts of moving into your own home is choosing the furniture and adding decorations that you love and make you feel at home. With supported living, it’s your choice as to how you’d like to furnish your home, and you can also add those important finishing touches that suit your own style.

4. Tailored support and care

With supported living, you’ll have the privacy and independence when you need it, with the peace of mind of having our specialist team on hand 24/7 for any support you need. This help can cover lots of different tasks, including personal care, medication and finances.  Our aim is to help you live as independently as possible, helping you to develop your skills, form new hobbies, make new friends and live a truly fulfilling life.

5. Friendly support from an expertly trained team

Just like in residential care, our supported living teams are professionally trained and are dedicated to helping and improving the lives of those they support while always treating them with dignity and respect. You and your family can be reassured that there is 24/7 team on hand should you need it.

How Lifeways can help

At Lifeways, we can help find the right supported living solution for you. We partner with several housing associations to find suitable and affordable places for people to live, and we are on hand to help sort out tenancy agreements where needed, providing individuals with the security of their own homes.

With a wide variety of supported living accommodation to choose from, we take the time to get to know you to understand what location, accommodation and adaptations will be best suited to meet your current requirements and future goals.

We know it's really important to be surrounded by people you enjoy spending time with, so where individuals express an interest to live with others, we support by finding suitable housemates with similar lifestyles and interests. Our supported living homes are set in the heart of communities, meaning easy access to local amenities and attractions, along with having transport links close by.

If you have any questions or would like to find out more information, then please find supported living accommodation near you or feel free to get in touch and one of our friendly team members will be on hand to answer any questions.
